Physicians Reach Out

Physicians Reach Out (PRO) is a nonprofit outreach program that provides primary and specialty medical and dental care to eligible uninsured residents in Mecklenburg County. All PRO doctors and dentists are volunteers who see PRO patients in their own offices. Office visits are at no charge, and other services, such as diagnostic testing, lab services and hospitalization, are provided at a reduced cost.

To be eligible for PRO, you must:

• Be a Mecklenburg County resident for at least 3 months
• Be at or below 200 percent Federal Poverty Guidelines
• Not be currently eligible, pending or receiving Medicaid, Medicare or any other health benefits
• Not have been a patient of any sliding scale or subsidized health clinic within the past 24 months

To determine whether you may be eligible for PRO, please complete the Pre-screening Questionnaire. If you meet the eligibility criteria and wish to apply, please download the PRO Application Packet and call 704.375.0172 to schedule an Eligibility Interview.  You must bring your completed application, copies of required documents, and $20 (cash or money order) with you. Appointments are held at our office located at 601 E. 5th Street, Charlotte. Appointments last about one hour. Failure to show for your scheduled Eligibility Interview may impact your eligibility for PRO. Sorry, we are not able to accommodate walk-ins for Eligibility Interviews.
